Savage Employees Have Joined the Fight

Salt Lake City, Utah based Savage Services, a transportation and materials management company with operations throughout the U.S. and Canada, has joined the fight against Lafora disease. Jessica Ambroe of Johnstown PA, who is afflicted with Lafora, has had ties to Savage since she was a toddler. Her “Pee-Paw”, special family friend Tom Blankenship, has worked for Savage since 1995, and many employees in the WV, PA and MD area have met Jess personally. As a child, she attended many Savage employee functions and has always had plenty of T-shirts from various company picnics and such.
After being told that Jess had been diagnosed with Lafora, the employees of Savage around the country embraced the cause as their own and have been involved in many different ways. From selling wristbands to holding bake-sales, as well as making generous financial contributions and attending fundraising events, Savage employees have united to bring a Lafora treatment closer to a reality. Future fundraisers include a motorcycle poker run in the spring to raise research funds. There has been an outpouring of prayers, emails, links through Facebook and MySpace pages to www.chelseashope.org and even some sending special personal items to Jess. From McDonald’s coupons and Wal-Mart gift cards, to a nice doll and letter from the Mother-in-Law of an employee in New Mexico, the support has been incredible! So far, support of all kinds has come in from Savage employees at multiple locations in California, Colorado, Louisiana, Maryland, New Mexico, Nova Scotia, Texas, Utah and West Virginia! As a company, Savage employees have raised an awesome $13,000 that has been donated to Chelsea’s Hope for designated research. We appreciate all the great people involved in these ongoing efforts! It is the good hearts of people like this that will help achieve victory in this war against Lafora! Keep up the good work! We invite all of you to join our fight.
